Custom Repair of an Aggregate Cone Crusher

Denver Machine Shop was contracted to completely rebuild the HP300 Nordberg cone crusher head, shown adjacent, for a client in the aggregate mining industry. This is a high pressure part used to crush rock and aggregate. After disassembling the part, and inspecting it thoroughly, we prepped the piece for welding and employed our advanced Sub-arc Welding Machine, and 20,000 lb. capacity Weld Positioner to perform a weld build-up of over ½ in. thickness. We used carbon steel for this hard surface weld, returning the cone to oversize of its original dimensions. Utilizing our 90″ swing arm Vertical Boring Mill, the part was machined holding tight tolerances of ±0.001″. The unit was sandblasted to a 125 RMS finish, and our techs reassembled and re-installed on the customer’s site.

This cone crusher head weighed in at 3,200 lbs., with a length of 3 Ft. The top diameter is 10 in. and the bottom diameter is 4 Ft. Q & A inspection included dimensional testing, functionality testing, and surface finish. Turnaround time for a project of this magnitude is 1 week, and our services are available nationwide.
